Transformer oil, a petroleum-based liquid, is widely used in power transformers due to its excellent performance and low price. Its characteristics include good insulation performance, low viscosity, heat transfer, protection from moisture, and protection of insulating materials from oxygen. It also reduces no-load loss by 20% compared to Model S9-M due to the use of an expansion type radiator oil tank or corrugated shteet.

It is separated into two categories: iron shell type transformers and iron core transformers. A transformer is classified as iron core if the winding is encircling the iron core, and as iron shell type if the iron core is encircling the winding. There is no fundamental difference between the two in concept, although their structures differ slightly. Iron core power transformers are the standard type.
The iron core, winding, oil tank, oil pillow, insulating bushing, tap changer, and gas relay make up the majority of the transformer.
Cooling oil channels are frequently included in large-capacity transformers to guarantee that the heat released by core loss can be completely absorbed by the insulating oil during circulation to create an adequate cooling effect.
